Summary: This is the autobiography of one of the mission control people who took part in the Apollo space program. He recounts his youth and how it led him to his position in mission control. He then discusses the missions on which he played a role. Perhaps the most famous was Apollo 13. Sy is the one who gave the command to stir the cryo-tanks. In the movie Apollo 13 Sy was played by Clint Howard. Perhaps my favorite part is his discussion of his nightmare after being the one who called for the stir and how he worked through it.

Recommendation: I enjoy reading autobiographies of astronauts and others associated with space flight so I would definitely recommend this book. What made this one so interesting was that it wasn't one of the astronauts or main NASA people. It is about one of the guys in the trenches of the space program. After reading about the astronaut prospective on the Apollo 13 mission this one really brings a wonderful insider prospective.
