Beautiful Boy

Author: David Sheff

Summary: This is a nonfiction book that tells the story of a father's
experience living through his son's addiction to meth. It also gives a lot of research on drugs, and specifically meth so that we can understand more the physical process of addiction and how hard it is to recover from it.

Recommendation: Yes, I would recommend this book. David Sheff is a really good author and is able to use words that draw you in from the very first page. It is definitely a very sad experience to read about, seeing a young kid so addicted to such a hard drug. I love that it is written from a father's perspective.

Summary: This book is written by a devoted father of a meth addict. It took me a few chapters to get into it... the father goes into a lot of his own
struggles, his divorce, his own drug abuse in college...I almost put it down but at the end it brought it all together for me. A tragic story, but one I'm afraid many can relate to. I believe this author has helped and will help many people dealing with various hardships in their lives. In spite of the tragic circumstances this family struggled through, and most likely will continue to struggle with, the blended families refused to give up and continue to fight for answers, solutions. A tragic story of love.

Recommendation: Yes, I could recommend this book for anyone. Fortunately for me I don't struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. But many people do and
this book gives a lot of informed advice. Ultimately for the fathers own survival he learned some many valuable lessons. Hard lessons. But ultimately he has learned how to live his life.
