Summary: As mentioned above, this is a sequel to Rules of the Road. I think it could stand alone, as there is not much reference to the first book, but it helps to be informed. Jenna is struggling to balance family, work and school. At work things are hectic as the Shoe Warehouse starts its somewhat hostile takeover, but Mrs. Gladstone won't back down without a fight. Jenna stumbles on some juicy information that typical employees shouldn't be aware of and things start to heat up. Meanwhile a teenage boy named Tanner is caught stealing and Mrs. Gladstone decides to show mercy and lets him have a job instead of pressing charges, putting him directly under Jenna. As if Jenna didn't have enough to deal with.

Recommendation: I didn't think this book was as tightly knit together as Rules of the Road but it was still an enjoyable read and has some good life lessons. Jenna is a girl that everyone could relate to and the whole story is very lifelike. Joan Bauer is a good author, especially for teen girls who are looking to feel good about themselves.
