Title: Blind Submission
Author: Debrah Ginsberg
Summary: Angel Robinsonhas gone to work for Lucy Fiamma, a tyrant of a literary agent with an uncanny ability to spot "the next big thing". Lucy, fresh from the triumph of Cold!, the masterpiece by Karanuk, a native Inuet that is on everyone's "Best" list. Angel loves books, she loves reading, and feels she has entered heaven, the epicenter of books to be. Life working for Lucy is anything but heaven. Soon Angel is overwhelmed by the politics of Lucy Firamma Agency and the bizarre behavior of Lucy. Angel's coworkers seen to be beaten down and every waking moment is focused on Lucy and her needs and whims. Angel is also reading blind submissions, manuscripts sent unsolicited to the agency. In the pile she discovers Damiano Vero submission destined to be the next big thing. As she tries to bring the book to Lucy and then the publishers she also reads another submission that intrigues her. This manuscript comes in a chapter at a time via email and soon the storyline take an ominous shift....the plot seems to mirror Angel's life, and threatens to put her in danger's way. Rumor is Lucy Angel could be based on Judith Reagan, late of publishing infamy. Blind Submission is a witty and well written story of the publishing world. Sly reference is paid to a Judith Reganish literary figure, and the plot moves at a brisk pace. This is a great read.
Recommendation: Blind Submission is a witty and well written story of the publishing world. It has current references and some "who could it be?" moments. The plot moves at a brisk pace. This is a great read. I would recommend this.
