Title: The Caliph's House
Author: Tahir Shah
Summary: An Afghan refuge who grew up in London decides to move his family to Casa Blanca in Morocco, where he buys a huge dilapidated mansion that once belonged to a Caliph. His lack of understanding of the local culture and peoples set him up for some hilarious miscommunications and real shockers.
Recommendation: I am an immigrant to this country, I also lived in Morocco for a time. I appreciated this book on so many levels. The whole adapting to a culture that is alien, whose beliefs are primitive to you, and your eventual adaptation and integration in to this culture were very well explained, and presented with a lot of humor.
