Rigorous training prepares Will to enter the Tripods city by winning a competition. Life in the City of Gold and Lead, the Tripods city, is hard and strenuous. Once inside Will finds that gravity pulls down much harder than outside the city. He gathers information to take back to white mountains, if he can manage to get himself out of the city.

Recommendation: If you liked the first book, you will definitely enjoy reading this. Young teenagers will really enjoy reading this as the main characters are young but learn to think before reacting and try again and again till success is achieved.
