The Crimson Thread

Author: Suzanne Weyn

Summary: This is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, based in late 1800's immigrant New York. Bridget, a new immigrant, is worried when her father promises she can turn plain cloth into something stunning. She succeeds with the help of another immigrant, but refuses his original offer of payment & promises her first-born child instead.

Recommendation: Sure. It was entertaining, although I felt some parts were strained to fit into the Rumpelstiltskin story.

Summary: This is part of the once upon a time series and is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin. I like that it was historically based and is set in New York with Irish imigrants comming over in 1880. Wonderful story!!!

Recommendation: Yes. It is a quick read and very fun. I loved the characters and the way that she twisted the story to make it a version of Rumpelstiltskin.

Title: The Crimson Thread: A Retelling of Rupelstiltskin

Author: Suzanne Weyn

Summary: Bridget, now called Bertie, has just moved to America from Ireland. She and her family find work with the wealthy Wellington family and young son of the family, James, even seems to be smitten with her. Then there is the mysterious and alluring Ray Stalls, a young man who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders and always seems to show up just when Bertie needs him. He helps her in a bind and asks as payment her first born child and Bertie never dreams he is serious. All she knows is that she can't love him the way he wants, besides, a wealthy life with James seems much more promising. Retelling of Rumplestiltskin.

Recommendation: This was a great book. I loved her other book Water Song that is part of the same series. The author has the ability of weaving magic into ordinary stories. It was a great story - one I'm sure to read again.

Summary: This is about a young girl and her family in 1880 who has just arrived to New York City. It is about her making new friends, finding a job when her dad says that she sow a dress that will look like gold. It's a great retelling of Rumpelstiltskin.

Recommendation: I really enjoyed the retelling of this story. I liked the real part of 1880 and all the Bertie went through. It was modern day fairies tell with a twist. Would definitely recommend it
