Summary: Criss Cross follows a group of friends as they mature over a few critical months of puberty. Each one faces what their "true self" is as well as building from their past-selves, and hopeful future-selves. The characters are lovable and realistic rather than idealistic; Perkins really mastered the art of conversation.

Recommendation: What a delightful story! I laughed and felt compassion in every chapter. Stylistically satisfying, but not over-wrought. Thoughtful, playful, and a perfect summer read.
