The Crook Factory

Author: Dan Simmons

Summary: The story of Hemingway's private spy ring he ran out of his home in Cuba. Does a fine job of describing the inter agency relations between different branches of espionage and highlights the incredible paranoia of J.E. Hoover.

Recommendation: This was a very well written fictionalized recounting of some of the more bizarre aspects of espionage. Easy to read and a painless way to absorb history. The thing I enjoyed the most about this book is that it once again proves that the difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to sound believable. The most bizarre parts of this story are always the real ones.
