The Crow

Title: The Crow

Author: Alison Croggon

Summary: This is the continuation of the Pellinor Series, and we get to see what Hem has been up to while his sister is searching for the Treesong. Hem travels to Turbansk in the South, and does not enjoy school much. He rescues a white crow, and somehow the bird and boy grow into a team. The adventures take him far from Turbansk, and Hem becomes more capable and more able to love others.

Recommendation: I recommend this book to adults more than to children. There are stories of kidnapped children who are turned into child-armies by the evil forces. The events in the training camps could lead to nightmares in younger readers.

Title: The Crow

Author: Alison Croggon

Summary: This is the third book in Croggon's Pellinor series. It was very different from the first two books in the series. From Hem's perspective we learn of the war gripping the southern land, the tension is high with many scenes of danger, and the tone is much darker than the previous two books.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to fans of the series. I would not recommend this book to those who are overly bothered by scenes of violence and war.
