Summary: Michael Santini becomes Secretary of Defense after the previous Secretary of Defense is assassinated. As the terrorist attacks mount, Santini must defend his policies against a power-hungry Secretary of State who is intent on influencing the president to go to war against the wrong country.

Recommendation: Absolutely. The book starts off slowly, but the climatic ending is a can't-put-it-down page turner. Cohen's years as Secretary of Defense pay off in the rich detail he brings to the fictional Santini's movements and interactions with the power brokers in this fictional Washington.
