Title: Education of a Wandering Man
Author: Louis L'Amour
Summary: An autobiographical sketch of the author as a young man from the 1920's-1940's. This book describes how breadth and depth education is gained when a voracious appetite for reading has been cultivated. Leaving home between 14 and 16 years of age, traveling to exotic lands, learning anything any book would offer, is what Louis wanted to do. He planned on becoming a boxer. Fortunately his mind longed for reading and with the help of an occasional mentor he was guided along an amazing path which has brought us some of the greatest historical fiction and historical western stories around.
Recommendation: I love this book! Louis understands the keys to statesmanship education and spent many years having to be his own mentor because of his work assignments. We receive a glimpse into the life of a great man who never gave up and just wanted to know more about everything available in life. I wish this was my early life education, instead I am now trying to gain a world class leadership education while balancing a family and mid-life demands.
