The Fountainhead

Author: Ayn Rand

Summary: This controversial novel illustrates Ayn Rand's philosophy. The plot is of Howard Roark, a young architect who will not conform. He refuses to compromise his artistic and personal vision for money, fame, or opportunity. His schoolmate, Peter Keating, is just the opposite. He conforms and excels in his schooling and his career at the sacrifice of what he wants, or his own vision. He is a force driven entirely by the wants of other people.

Recommendation: I liked this book. I recommend it to anyone interested in philosophy or anyone who wants a new way to look at things. The book is very well written, and it does hold your attention, but I think everyone would agree that the book feels long.
