Title: Frindle

Summary: Nick is always coming up with crazy ideas to waste time in class so that the teacher can't get around to assigning them homework. However, his new fifth grade English teacher is onto him and turns his questions into another homework assignment on top of his regular one. This gives him a desire for payback and he comes across an idea that is sure to annoy her. She absolutely loves the dictionary and the "traditional language" it holds within his pages. So, he is going to invent a new word and see if he can get her to finally accept it.

Recommendation: Yes. It is a well written story describing how new words are constantly being added to the English language. It also shows how kids can really make a difference in the world around them.
