Title: A Golden Age
Author: Tahmima Anam
Summary: Rehana Haque is a mother during the Bengali war for Independence. She has two children embroiled in the conflict, because they were students at the time and very aware of and involved with the politics climate at the time. Her abounding love for them led her to take risks, and do things for the war effort that she would not have otherwise, and the mercy of a stranger leads to her own salvation.
Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, not only those who enjoy historic fiction. Ms. Anam does an amazing job of bringing the characters and the country of Bengladesh to life, and my perception of life in southeast Asia was enlightened.
