Summary: Nathaniel returns in this book as a magician who is very young and yet rising in power and prestige very quickly in London's government. When a mysterious enemy begins to attack the city, Nathaniel and his djinni Bartimaeus have to find a way to stop it, while also finding a way to keep the commoner attacks at bay.

Recommendation: This book was a little bit slow in the beginning but once the plot became more complicated it was much more enjoyable to read. I like the supporting character Kitty and the antagonistic heroine she becomes.
