Title: The Great Gatsby
Author: F. Scott Fitzgerald
Summary: Coming from a poor background, Gatsby worships the high life and all the doors (including Daisy) that are closed to him. When he is unable to legitimately rise above his background, he turns to the easy life of crime available during the 1920s. The book details the life he has built for himself and eventually his downfall.
Recommendation: The book is well written (probably one reason it is considered a classic of American literature). It chronicles the unhappiness and lack of security of those who live a "worldly" lifestyle. It is worth reading at least once.
