Title: How to Survive a Robot Uprising
Author: Daniel H. Wilson
Summary: Well, I'm a computer science nerd studying robotics, so this book was a great choice for me. It takes a light-hearted approach to some of the stereotypes of robot apocalypses handed down to us by Hollywood. Along the way, Wilson explains the current state of the art in robotics and lets the non-robotics expert know what some of the difficult things are for robots that humans may do every day. He plays off of Hollywood stereotypes as well, for example suggesting that you can slow down a pursuing robot by throwing mud or dirt at its cameras because, as Wilson puts it, "it's hard to wipe your eyes when you have whirring buzzsaws for hands".
Recommendation: I would recommend it for anyone who is interested in a gentle introduction to the field of robotics. It is less than 200 pages, is not technical, and is factually accurate. And there is some humor in it to keep things interesting.
