Summary: A boy shows up at the house of Bob and Joan, and since they never had any children of their own, they raise him like he was. They named him Roger and can't make sense of why he keeps saying that he was a rat. His past gets him into a lot of trouble and his past just happens to have something to do with the new princess's own mysterious past.

Recommendation: Yep, I'd recommend this book. I adore twists on fairy tales and Philip Pullman is a great author.
