Title: In Search of Our Mother's Garden
Author: Alice Walker
Summary: A well-known African American author, this books shows many of the struggles of growing up from generations of people who's arts and skills were often suppressed. Many of her stories point out the artistic abilities of her culture and how they are hidden from those who don't look for them. No "arts"
came down, but there are the songs, the quilts, the gardens, and the many other types of art forms that survived through the generations of slavery.
Recommendation: It is a good book, has lots of wonderful parts. I would recommend it, though not as a bedside reading. It is meant to be contemplated and thought upon.
