Elizabeth, fresh from a season in Europe is refined and aloof. Diana Holland, her younger sister, is more spontaneous and tries to flout convention. She cannot imagine following in Elizabeth’s footsteps, especially when Elizabeth is engaged to the catch of New York (and their social set) Henry Schoonmaker. The Luxe captures society as the nation is set to move into the twentieth century. The lives behind the carefully constructed façade of these young women are filled with the struggle to stay true to a first love, the differences of class at the turn of the century and young women finding their place and love in the changing world.

Recommendation: Yes, this is a great summer read. The first book in a series. Keeps the reader engrossed from the beginning to end.
