Title: The People of Sparks
Author: Jeanne DuPrau
Summary: Lina and Doon have found the way out of the city and sent a message back with instructions for the rest of Ember to follow. As the city emerges they find a town called Sparks where the people take them in and try to teach them to be self sufficient. Contentions arise as the people of Sparks get
tired of taking care of the people of Ember and the people of Ember feel like they're being mistreated.
Recommendation: Not as good as the first book, but still interesting. Not as action filled, more about the people of Ember adjusting to life above ground.

Title: The People of Sparks
Author: Jeanne DuPrau
Summary: The people of Ember emerge from their underground city and find themselves refugees in a strange new land. Their arrival at the village of Sparks causes a strain on the limited resources and tempers of all involved.
Recommendation: Absolutely. It analyzes both the causes and effects of war in a way that children can understand, then shows how this destructive cycle can be broken trough acts of kindness. However, I would strongly recommend reading The City of Ember first.
