The Queen of Babble

Title: The Queen of Babble

Author: Meg Cabot

Summary: After Lizzie graduates from college she plans to move to England to visit her boyfriend. She has only met him recently and most of their relationship has been long distance.

Recommendation: I really enjoyed this book. I think the main character is quite funny in her thoughts and therefore very entertaining. The story was kind of predictable but that doesn't bother me. There were quite a few "f" words though.

Summary: Lizzie Nichols is enjoying her college graduation party, despite not actually graduating. All she has is her senior thesis, and how hard can that be? Lizzie is sure she can get that done while spending her summer with Andrew in England. Andrew, her college love, is returning to England and Lizzie is sure their summer of love will develop into something more. However, Lizzie's habit of not exactly telling the truth may prove to be her undoing. The trip to England gets off on the wrong foot and goes downhill from there. Her "fibs' are minor compared to the tales Andrew has told. When faced with the reality of a long summer with Andrew she bolts across the channel to stay with her best friend Shari who has taken a job catering a big society wedding at Chateau Mirac. Once there Lizzie doesn't buckle down to get the thesis written. After all, after all that drama, a girl deserves a little rest. She meets the family of the groom and the haughty bride and once again opens her mouth at the wrong time. Will she be able to salvage the wedding and her friendships?

Recommendation: I would recommend this to anyone looking for a summer read. Meg Cabot has a way with characters, especially those who don't quite fit in, no matter how hard they try. This is a lively, engaging read.
