Will is an educated gambler who is not only educated in academics but also the way of the west. He teaches Val all he knows and you follow Val through his life as he faces not only the demons of his past but the demons of the wild west.

Recommendation: Yes, I would recommend it. I didn't love it as much as some of the other Louis L'amour books, but it was interesting to watch the development of this young man.
