Summary: Surviving catastrophic events that leave the world de-populated of plants and wildlife, a young boy and his father struggle to journey to the coast. They confront bitter cold, starvation, bands of cannibals, and hopelessness. Cormac's spare words and simple dialogue forcefully convey the fierce love of the father and the innocence and humanity of the son.

Recommendation: Recommended. A thought-provoking and beautifully written book, but also intense and dark. I must admit that forty pages from the end, I had to escape the gray dreariness of Cormac's world for a day and read a lighter book.
