Summary: Hester tries to live a normal life apart from the sin that she has committed that everyone can see, a scarlet letter. Her consequence from having an affair is a baby girl as well as the scarlet letter on her bosom. Hester's husband wants to find out who the father is but through searching for revenge he reveals secrets of his own.

Recommendation: yes, the book shows one of many ways of what happens when you are not true to yourself or to others; though there are many other consequences but the one that Hester goes through still happens today.
