The Six Wives of Henry VIII

Author: Alison Weir

Summary: This is a historical, non-fiction account of the lives of each of Henry VIII's wives. Weir follows each woman from birth to death, examining countless historical documents to paint complex pictures of each woman's loves, fears, motivations, and failings.

Recommendation: If you like British history, this book is fascinating. The amount of detail really helps create a vivid picture of the time period, and you end up feeling very deeply for each of the women. It would be a great reference for historical research of this period, but it would also be enjoyable just for a pleasure read. The book is very long and at times the enormous cast of characters can be hard to follow, but that was probably characteristic of the period as well.
