Title: The Story of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Pioneer Girl
Author: Megan Stine
Summary: A short historical synopsis of all the Little House books, written on the same reading level but sorting out fact from the fiction that Laura threw in her books to make them more "child friendly." It also tells about her own family after the stories end and more about what happened to Ma, Pa, and Mary.
Recommendation: Yes - especially after reading the others, or for first or
second grade readers who can't get through the whole series but are still
interested in pioneer life. It's great for kids who take everything at face
level, because it shows in a very, very nice way why Laura changed her
biography for the books and how everything you read isn't necessarily true.
