Summary: Beth Middleton's fiancé died in a car accident on the way to the temple for their wedding. Beth is devastated and her life falls apart following this event. She can't bear to be around happy families or children because she's reminded of what she has lost. She is asked by her former employer to be a court-appointed evaluator for a lawyer, Jack Gamble, and his
daughter Chloe. Beth becomes involved in a case Jack is defending that puts them all in danger.

Recommendation: I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I was very involved in the characters, what they were feeling and thinking, and what was going to happen to them.
