Summary: Not at all like the movie, Angus and his sister Kirstie raise a monster-to-be in their bathtub with the help of their grandfather. After a few months the kelpie grows bigger than their pond and they need to move it to the most suitable lake - none other than Loch Ness.

Recommendation: Yes - about all the movie and the book have in common is a sea monster, a boy named Angus, and Loch Ness. Other than that, this plot is really simple but sweet - and I wish they'd put more of the book's elements into the movie instead of trying to make the movie family so dysfunctional.
