Title: Where the River Runs
Author: Richard S. Wheeler
Summary: Capt. Jedediah Owen left with a small troop to visit Native American villages. He said goodbye to his fiancé and that was the last anyone saw of him. His fiancé, Susannah, is a strong woman refuses to give up hope so she sets off on the river to find him. Meanwhile, Jed (who is obviously not dead because then there would be no story) is struggling against sickness, native Americans and the wilderness to stay alive. He is the only one left of his troop and he clutches with him a sack full of his men's last mementos and letters - while thoughts of Susannah keep him warm inside, it is the promise to send these letters out that drives him forward.
Recommendation: Lame. Way stupid and cheesy. L'Amour is a thousand times better. The story was so cheesy I can't help but giggle about it. If you are looking for a good western, do NOT start here.
