Wild Swans

Author: Jung Chang

Summary: The true story of a grandmother, mother and daughter growing up in 20th century China amidst the ravishes of war, invasion and communism. Written from the daughter's perspective.

Recommendation: I loved this book, although it makes you want to cry and scream because of the inhumanity and injustice suffered by so millions in China during the last 100 years. I learned so much about Mao Tse Dong, communism, and the evils and suffering that occurred under his reign. I also was amazed and humbled by the power of people to move on, to keep going, and to hold fast to ones principles and morals, even under the most horrific circumstances.

Summary: This was a good look into the history of China from one families view. The author was very thorough in her research. I was constantly in unbelief over what these people went through.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book if you enjoy history pieces. She is a very intelligent author. She really knew her stuff.
