Title: The Winter Lodge
Author: Susan Wiggs
Summary: I found out after reading this book that it is in "The Lakeside Chronicles". This is a series of sorts. I did not read the first book but they have the characters from the first book in the second book. This book is about a girl who grew up in a small town and never new her father, and her mother left when she was still little and was raised by her grandparents. The book starts with a fire at her house and her losing everything. The story is very interesting in that it goes back to her childhood and to her teen years, and after high school. A man from her past that just co-exists with her but
they don't talk ends up in her orbit and the mystery surrounding her and the fire begins. There are many subplots and characters that I didn't really want to read about but several are in the next book so the author is setting the next book up. The book is clean but there are a few swear words in the book. Any relationship between Jenny and Rourke are aluded to and then the next scene starts- kind of like going to commercial on the TV and coming back in a new scene.
Recommendation: No I don't think I would recommend this book. It was a good book and I did read the next book in the series "Dockside" but I didn't want to read the 4th book. I didn't like the way the book goes back in time. I wanted to see more of the relationship and interaction with the Jenny and Rourke of now not then. The book was clean except for some swear words. I was not surprised at the ending but a few of the details dealing with the end I didn't know.
